I’ve looked through my fair share of wedding slide shows and have realized that a majority of couples forget an intricate piece of the wedding day puzzle…your wedding stationery! Typically, photographers will take shots of the corresponding table numbers, escort cards, programs, etc., but what did you forget? The wedding invites!

The days leading up to the “big one” are hectic, I know! Just write yourself a little reminder to bring your wedding invitations along. Or when you take the remaining print pieces to the ceremony or reception site, just pack the invite too! That way, your photographer can also capture the “focal point” of all your wedding stationery! Plus, I’m sure your stationer would love to see photos featuring their work 😉

Check out these great shots that Turtle Pond Photography captured from Sarah and Paul’s wedding. Outstanding! By the way, if you know who created this stationery, please let me know. I would love to credit the brilliant designer!!!

One of my favorite things about Indy is that everyone seems to love it here! Since living in Los Angeles and moving to Jasper, IN, I’ve come to the conclusion that Indy has the best of both worlds. It’s metropolitan – offering so many great things (concerts, food, shopping, etc.), but is small enough to have that home town feel.

I’ve noticed a great trend in wedding photography as well… Couples are choosing to show Indy a little love. By including our unique skyline in their wedding photos, they’re not only paying tribute to this wonderful city, but they’re also saying “Indy, we love you!”

Check out some of these lovely Indy wedding images.

Unique Among Hotels in Downtown Indianapolis

One of my favorite reception sites is the Crowne Plaza® Indianapolis Downtown at Historic Union Station. From train car hotel rooms featuring period decor and upscale modern amenities to a downtown location adjacent to Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis Convention Center, their hotel’s accommodations promise a convenient home away from home in a unique, historic setting.

With over 55,000 sq ft of event space for up to 2,500, Crowne Plaza is the area’s preferred “Place to Meet.” The Grand Hall Ballroom provides an exquisite backdrop for any function – especially weddings!

The Crowne Plaza’s downtown Indianapolis location is near attractions, such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Victory Field, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, Indianapolis Zoo and NCAA Hall of Champions. Union Station operates as an active train station and the muffled rumblings of trains regularly passing through adds to the ambiance of staying in our hotel.

Whether you’re lodging in an authentic Pullman train car guest room or a spacious suite, their guests enjoy fabulous perks and an exquisite atmosphere.

I was so fortunate to work with Ryan and Lindsey Tucker (who tied the knot July 10) on their save the dates, wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner invites and day of pieces. Lindsey came to me with idea of creating a New Orleans themed affair. Of course, I loved it (and everything that has to do with that enchanting city).

We started with save the dates. She wanted these to be more fun and playful. I decided to create a jazzy New Orleans poster look. The rehearsal dinner invitations also had a similar look and feel. (Photo by Jennifer Driscoll)

However, for the wedding invitations and day of pieces, Lindsey wanted to play up the classic New Orleans style complete with golds, browns and silvers. And of course we had to throw in some  fleur-de-lis.The invitations were wrapped with gold ribbon and layered upon brown and silver paper. (I’ll try to get photos of these soon!)

Luckily, Lindsey and Ryan booked Jen and Kurtis Bowersock (of Bowersock Photography) to capture the days events. They were kind enough to let me post some photos from the wedding and reception (including the programs, table numbers/street signs, escort cards, specialty drink cards, menus and favor box stickers that I designed). What a beautiful wedding (and gorgeous bride)!!!

Laurel Hall is a perfect place for weddings of 200 or less. An historic icon, Laurel Hall has hosted some of Indiana’s finest families and has been the site of over a hundred weddings since 2006. With the classic stone arches, stately entry and tall chimneys, your guests will know they’ve arrived someplace very special.

Invite them into the grand lobby with rich hardwood paneling, tall decorative ceilings, luxurious oriental rugs and an impressive grand staircase. Distinctive, carved fireplaces, crown moldings and fine architectural details add elegance to the rooms throughout the building. Our outdoor ceremony locations are private and perfect for your special day. The third floor chapel conveys that “small town church feel”, if you prefer your ceremony indoors.

After your ceremony, handsome, mahogany, walnut and teak wood floors are ideal for dancing and, when you need a bit of fresh air, just step through the doors onto the terrace, complete with lit fountains and a beautiful view of the grounds.

Their caterers are eager to work with you to make the very most of your special day. Let them help you realize your dream event, whether inside our historic facility or on our beautiful grounds. Please consult their event coordinator for ceremony and reception fees as well as other details.

Trying to fit your personality into the traditional wedding attire can be tricky. However, the latest trend is all about the shoes. Check out some of these adorable heels (all shot by Turtle Pond Photography).

It’s hard to fathom that your wedding day could actually be FUN… I know how it is… You’re so stressed – worrying about every little tiny detail. Hoping and praying that everything turns out perfect… Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but nothing’s ever perfect. And I’m here to tell you, that’s okay! You just have to embrace the fact that things will inevitably happen.

What you need to do is just live in the moment, and remember, this day is not for your guests, it’s for you. It’s all about you and the person that you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your life with.

So when you can, make sure you stop and have a little fun. Try not to get caught up in the stress of it all. Just enjoy it!

I can’t speak for everyone, but I was lucky enough to meet the man of my dreams while attending Ball State University. I suppose it’s a pretty common occurrence. While Matt and I did not tie the knot at BSU, we did have a portion of our wedding photos taken at Holcomb Gardens located on Butler University’s campus. Here are some of the photos from that memorable day…

This inspired me to check out other alma mater inspired weddings. Below are a few photos from Molly and Patrick’s wedding, also taken at Butler University.

Marina and Adam, both graduates of Notre Dame, were photographed at the golden dome (reserved only for those who graduate).

Zeynep and Eric went with a crimson and cream theme for their wedding, complete with a photo shoot fit for a couple of Hoosiers.
